Detailed Features

Lay-Down Push-Rod Shock Absorbers

The SP1-F’s shock absorbers are designed to lay down alongside the arm, significantly reducing the center of gravity (CG). This design ensures that as the suspension compresses, the turnbuckle attached to the rocker pushes the inside of the shock outwards, providing compression from both ends. This setup is fine-tuned to achieve a progressive nature similar to traditional shock absorbers.

19mm High Topdeck

One of the most striking features of the SP1-F is its low topdeck. This lowers the car’s CG drastically by reducing the height of several components, including the bulkheads, screws, and motor mount. The topdeck’s thickness is increased to 2.25mm to maintain structural integrity while lowering the CG.

Under-Arm Anti-Roll Bar

The anti-roll bars are positioned as low as possible to further reduce the CG. This system allows for quick and easy changes and adjustments, making it user-friendly. The open design of the anti-roll bar holders facilitates fast thickness changes among the three included bars.

Minimised Chassis Width and Length

The short chassis reduces scrubbing and centralizes the weight of suspension components to decrease the moment of inertia. The tapered suspension arms and narrow profile (only 82mm wide) enhance agility and cornering speed.

Layout and Weight Positioning

The SP1-F features a mid-motor design with electronics placed as far forward as possible to distribute weight over the front axle. It accommodates low profile servos, all motors, ESCs, and shorty batteries for optimal performance.

Composite Upper Arms with Adjustable Caster

The fixed-type caster design of the composite upper arms offers user-friendly adjustability and durability. The car includes offset inserts for a wide range of caster adjustments and special set screws for easy camber adjustments.

Aluminium Diff Casing

The 7075 Aluminium spool and diff provide durability and lightweight performance. The diff features a spider-gear design with internal dual bearings for low friction and minimal wear.

Adjustable Diff Height and Belt Tension

The SP1-F offers two diff heights and seven belt tension positions, adjustable via composite eccentrics. This allows for easy and precise tuning of the drivetrain.

Driveshafts

The hard-coated driveshaft components ensure longevity and minimize friction and wear. The design prevents suspension binding under load, allowing for smooth and consistent performance.

Shocks and Springs

Manufactured from high-quality, low-friction components, the SP1’s shock absorbers feature a diamond-like coating for reduced friction and wear. The integrated bladder design ensures air-free assembly and consistent performance. A range of optional linear and progressive springs from AXON Japan is available for further tuning.

Quick Release Battery System

The SP1-F includes twistable tabs for quick battery changes and adjustable carbon battery hooks for different battery widths. The eccentric battery posts allow for precise tuning of the battery’s position and movement.

Brass Weights

The SP1-F includes 2x 32g brass weights positioned in front of the servo and motor, and 4x 10g round weights for the bumper. Additional weights can be added for further tuning options.

SP1 Parts Compatibility

The SP1-F shares most parts with the SP1, reducing costs by minimizing the need for separate spares.
